How Can Professional Hoarding Cleanup Services Help?

Hoarding is characterized by difficulty throwing stuff away, regardless of its value. As items build up, safety issues can arise.

Hoarding cleanup may involve rotting food, animal or human waste, non-functioning bathrooms, poor navigation throughout the house, animal carcasses, and unsanitary surfaces. Any of these situations can be hazardous to your health, creating an unsafe living environment and dangers during cleaning.

Professional hoarding cleanup services are performed by technicians who are equipped with safety equipment, professional tools, and in-depth knowledge of safe and effective cleaning services.

Technicians can typically clean your home safely while occupants remain inside. They can also eliminate hazards and improve navigation to make your home safe.

Professional services are especially crucial in the following situations:

  • Limited access to doorways or fire exits
  • Inability to use appliances
  • Blocked ventilation or the inability to heat/cool your home
  • Non-functioning bathrooms
  • Unsanitary conditions involving food or waste
  • Inability to safely navigate the home

Professional hoarding cleanup services can help with clutter removal, deep cleaning, odor removal, search and recovery of essential items and valuables, and more.

Types of Hoarding

Each hoarding situation is different, and collecting or failing to get rid of certain items can lead to unexpected hazards. While general hoarding is common, some specific types of hoarding exist.

  • Animal hoarding: An individual acquires many animals or pets, usually more than the person can effectively care for.
  • Compulsive shopping: A preoccupation with shopping and purchasing unneeded items can lead to excessive clutter and ultimately lead to a dangerous environment.
  • Object hoarding: This can mean hoarding specific items or a combination of objects, including paper, books, food, clothing, and even garbage.

Any type of hoarding can lead to an overwhelming situation that compounds an initial problem with additional issues until it feels out of one's control.

Our Process

Most people feel shame and embarrassment related to hoarding and the condition of their homes. These feelings make it challenging to seek the help you need.

Our process is designed to develop a trusting relationship in which you feel confident and secure. To ensure every client is comfortable, we tailor our process to your needs.

We're open to scheduling an initial visit to give you an estimate and discuss the process of cleaning your home. We ensure discretion and can use unmarked vehicles or take any other measures you deem necessary to maintain your privacy.

When we arrive for cleanup, our technicians arrive at your home, introduce themselves, and talk with you about the cleaning process and a plan that will meet your needs.

Occupants can usually stay in the home while we clean, and you'll have the final say in which items are removed.

Over the course of the cleaning, technicians will categorically clear clutter from impacted sections of the home and clean and sanitize cleared areas.

We consider our job complete when your home environment feels safe. However, to ensure you're satisfied and your ongoing needs are met, we stay in touch to see if there are additional services we can help you obtain.

    Lori T., St. George, 09/2023
A couple of months ago, a member of my family suffered an emergency which prompted us to go to their house. Upon entering, we were shocked to discover the state it was in. There was no way we could possibly have them go back into the home with the way it was. So, at first we tried to take care of the place ourselves, but quickly realized we were in over our heads. Not knowing what to do, we turned to the internet for help. A quick search of House Hoarding turned up Bio One as one of top rated, local clean up professionals. We figured we would have to call and leave a message and then just wait for whenever someone could respond. To our surprise, the phone call was answered on the second ring. The owner Kasey immediately listed to our plight and said ""Don't worry, we got you."" He asked for a few pictures of the home, the address and any other concerns we had, plus our over all goal for the cleanout. Within a few days we had a quote for the cleanout and a date scheduled. One our biggest concerns for this whole process was how public of a spectacle it would be. Picturing a whole crew rolling up to the house, in hazmat suits, big logos all over the vehicles and neighbors peeking out their blinds. We had the neighbors, but Bio One is the perfect picture of discretion. Their vehicle was a plain box truck, not advertisement in sight, and not a hazmat suit to be seen. The clean out process was seamless. Kasey and Dallon were machines. Yes, I know this is what they do for a living, but the way they quickly put together a cleanout plan and executed it. It was incredibly impressive. They started with anything that was obviously trash, making it easier to get to the items that were important for saving or of sentimental value. They picked through everything looking for anything we asked for. Anything they even remotely thought could be useful or important was brought to us to yay or nay. They saved every key, coin, and remote control. Every item, even if it was getting thrown out, was treated with care. Once the home was emptied of the clutter, that was when the cleaning process began. They do a ""Deep Cleaning"" using special chemical that remove odor from paint, floors, furniture. They sanitize surfaces, and in general treat it (and this will sound odd) like a crime scene. It was amazing to walk in after chemical deep clean and have the home smell fresh and almost like new. The only thing that could improve is the dust removal and fine detail cleaning. I think my other family was expecting more of a detailed cleaning service, like a ""maid"" would do. The ""Deep Cleaning"" with the special chemicals is a necessary part of the service to bring the home back to livable, but maybe explaining that it isn't a detailed cleaning, but a chemical cleaning when quoting what is being done would benefit the client. Kasey and Dallon kept emphasizing to us how, their main goal in what they do, is to get the family member a safe, healthy home that they can return to, and be happy with. And I can say, wholeheartedly that they have achieved that goal with my family member's house. There is no way that we could have done with without them. Thank you Bio One, Kasey & Dallon. You saved us!
