Bio-One of Winston Salem

Overview

A mother in Winston-Salem called us during the holidays after losing her son to suicide. The situation was heartbreaking, and the family was gathered at the home in various states of shock and grief. She didn’t know where to begin—but she knew she needed help, quickly and privately.

How We Helped

Our team arrived with calm, care, and a clear plan to support the family and restore the space.

  • Brought our top team on-site, including Anthony and Nadine, to ensure compassion and experience from the start.
  • Focused first on calming the environment and helping the family get emotionally settled before any work began.
  • Respected everyone’s emotional state—many family members are in different states of mind—grieving, curious, confused.
  • Coordinated the cleanup discreetly and quickly to relieve the family of logistical concerns.
  • Explained the process clearly so the mother didn’t have to worry about the next steps.
  • Restored the space to a stable and respectful condition while minimizing intrusion.

The Outcome

We got the scene back to a sense of stability as quickly as possible. The mother was deeply appreciative, not only for the cleanup but for how the team showed up. Once they hand it off, they don’t have to worry about the details or logistics. She was able to focus on her family, knowing the rest was handled.

Local Ties

As a local business serving Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and the greater Piedmont Triad, we frequently collaborate closely with agencies such as Forsyth County Government, the Winston-Salem Police and Fire departments, and local support organizations. We are committed to showing up with compassion and discretion for families facing unexpected tragedy, especially in the communities we call home.

She had a lot to deal with, but part of what we do is bring calm to people who don’t know what to do next. This one stayed with us. Helping this mother during such a difficult time reminded us why we do this work. If you can’t achieve some level of stability, it may damage your job. That’s why we lead with empathy—always.”

What our clients say

decontamination and biohazard cleaning services reviews
Elizabeth Glenn, Winston-Salem, 05/2022
Friend’s family used BioOne to clean up after we found her deceased. They returned when it was time to clean out remaining belongings. I came to collect a few sentimental items set aside for me. I met BioOne representatives when I was there and they were very kind and compassionate. The staff was helpful, courteous and understanding as I collected other items to share with friends or donate to charitable organizations. I will recommend them anytime someone needs this kind of service.

Jamy, Winston-Salem, 01/2022
For several years, my landlord allowed a wet basement issue to continue unchecked. I decided to buy the house and fix the basement myself, but when I hired an inspector I was told that the basement was so badly contaminated with mold and fungus that it rendered the entire house unsafe for habitation. I was also told that all of the belongings I had stored in totes down there we're also contaminated and would have to be destroyed. I had Christmas ornaments, books, puzzles, games, memorabilia, furniture, baby clothes, off-season clothes, my son's Star Wars collectibles and more down there and was devastated that I not only would have to move out, but would also have to get rid of most of these things. The job was huge and nasty, because there was standing water in the basement and actual PUDDLES of black mold; the team had to wear respirators and hazmat suits, it was that bad. But Christopher and his team were professional, respectful, and considerate of my distress. It is never easy to see your belongings hauled off and thrown into a dumpster by a group of strangers, but it helped to know that they were doing their best to help me and helping to reduce the nightmare situation in that basement. It has been a traumatic week for me, to be honest, but they helped it to be a little less so with their professionalism and efficiency. Thank you.
