In our experience, the owners are put at great risk by hoarding animals. The danger lies in the fact that they can’t see that. Once the hoarding has started, animals are continually welcomed with no end in sight. The owner tends to neglect their own needs and provide for the animals first. 

Hygiene, food and water are the first to be affected by this practice. Animal waste gets airborne and can directly impact any food and water sources. This animal waste could be coming from:

  • rats
  • dogs
  • cats

Typically, their waste carries bacteria and parasites which are linked to human disease. Thus, tainting food and water available to the owner without their knowledge. 

Animal Risk

Much like owners, the animals in these situations tend to suffer from poor nutrition. It’s not uncommon to die from starvation.

These animals get into fights over territory and are frequently injured. Untreated maladies and mental distress from constantly fighting doesn’t end well. It’s not a good environment for them to be in. 

Cleaning Process

We work closely with the owner to ensure these risks are understood. Once that step has been reached, we continue with our cleaning process:

  1. Any items that have been highly contaminated by animal waste will be removed
  2. Cross-contamination safety protocols will be in place as a precautionary measure
  3. Once removed, the items will be disposed of responsibly

I contacted Bio-One DC on a Thursday to provide an assessment of a barn on one of the Park locations for the removal of Raccoon Feces. Tony immediately responded to the site within 30 minutes and provided a quote for services. Later that afternoon, I was sent an estimated proposal for Remediation of the site the next day. The team arrived on a Friday and immediately went to work. The location was engulfed with Raccoon feces on the stairs and both levels of the barn. Upon completion, the staff sent me pictures bolstering how impressed they were with the clean-up and how good it now smells. I appreciate the professionalism of the Bio-One DC team and efficiency of the service.

Professionalism from start to finish. Let’s start with the fact, they answered the phone promptly and politely on a Sunday afternoon. Within 15 minutes of sending photos of the affected area a technician was dispatched to my location and arrived within the hour. WOW! As you can see from the photo, the affected area was treated with detail and care. 10/10 would recommend!

They did a great job! They gave me fast service and arrived on time, and were very compassionate about what for me was an emotional issue. I needed a cleaning after my cat brought in a baby rat that took me about 6 weeks to get rid of. It had made a stinking mess in my kitchen in in accessible areas I couldn't clean properly, and I felt I couldn't sanitize any part of my kitchen properly or get out the stench using normal products and techniques. They were able to make my kitchen clean and safe, and get out about 90% of the stench, which has continued to fade since then, and may be gone now. I am so grateful.

It's really difficult finding companies that do what Bio-One does. My wife hired them because we were getting worried about airborne Hantavirus from mouse feces. They were extremely thorough. They even cleaned carpets. This is a legit, full-hazmat team ready to take on what you can't. They were super easy to schedule and they came to our house within 2 days of calling them. Professional and highly effective. If you're debating the value, just do it. Hire them.

Phenomenal Company!!! Prompt. Compassionate. Thorough. Excellent Customer Service. We recently needed to clear and clean a condo that had been subjected to a couple of decades' worth of clutter and neglect. In order to accommodate the occupant, we needed to be able to break the task down into two or more sessions rather than address it all at once. After vetting multiple companies we hired BioOne. Tony, the owner, worked with us on a plan and estimate that allowed us to efficiently tackle the worst issues in two full days. The crew--Chad, Jermaine, Quinn, and Mason--worked hard and accomplished a great deal in terms of removal, grouping remaining items, and initial cleaning. When we mentioned to Tony that some of the planned deep cleaning had not been completed due to time constraints, he arranged to send a cleaning crew out on Day 3. Shannon and LaKeisha did excellent work and left the place in a condition that exceeded our expectations. We're very happy with the services we received from BioOne and felt they were professional, responsive, efficient, and frankly delivered a better value than other companies we priced for the job. We would recommend them to anyone in the DMV who needs to address a severely cluttered property.
